Sweden Car Sales Jan-Jun 2017

No prizes for guessing which is the best selling brand in Sweden. It took the top spot off Opel in 1958 and has led ever since. That is quite some record. Saab was often 2nd making it a local 1-2 but now it's Volvo to carry the torch for Swedish car manufacturing. It delivers one in five cars sold here.

Registrations of new cars rose by 5.6% in June, and the YTD figure was +3.2%  This was the highest ever for the June month. The expectation is that this will be another record year, perhaps 375,000 sales come December 31st.

VW has been the second best selling brand since 2007 but has not been able to break the stranglehold. It's performance this year hasn't been good, neither has sister brand Audi done well. It has dropped three places in six months.

The chart below shows a % symbol that represents market share. The +/- column is increase or decrease based on the first six month's market share of 2017 against the full 2016 year.
